Fr. Mark Mancuso

ROCOR archpriest Mark Mancuso allegedly covered up the rape of his own daughter

ROCORabuse.org has received anonymous allegations from sources close to this matter. Allegedly, Fr. Mark Mancuso was aware of, and failed to act upon, alleged abuse involving his daughter, which is claimed to have begun when she was underage. We receieved an initial heartbreaking allegation which is not repeated here.

We received a second allegation soon after the first one.

[Daughter] Mancuso told me that she was raped by [abuser] at the age of 15, on church property. Her father absolutely knew EXACTLY what happened and still married them the moment she turned 18.

We have also received a third allegation:

I can confirm that [Daughter] Mancuso was being molested and sexually assaulted by [Abuser] when she was a minor.[...]I will also add that as far as I’m aware she had to go multiple times to a mental facility for cutting herself and threatening suicide. It has also been verified that Fr Mark Mancuso tries to cover up abuse and treats his own daughters badly. He also knew the raping of his minor daughter was and had happened.

Allegations of this nature are extremely concerning, doubly so given Fr. Mark's status both as Dean of Tennessee and the Carolinas, as well as his position as an investigator in other sexual abuse cases.

More importantly, the mere existence of these allegations means that Fr. Mark is not an appropriate person to be investigating other cases of abuse until they are resolved. His documented history of silencing and ostracizing other victims of abuse is even more concerning. We have also received reports of Fr. Mark:

  • Lying about his actions to abuse victims
  • Sharing his opinions about the truth of accusations with uninvolved third parties
  • Retaliating against victims
  • Admitting that his actions would discourage abuse from being reported
More to come on the above.

We encourage anyone with additional information or documentation to contact us. We also encourage (but sadly cannot expect) ROCOR to conduct a thorough investigation into these allegations and take appropriate action.
